Morning confessions
It’s 6am and your alarm is going off…
You groan, roll over and fumble for the snooze button on your phone…
Through sleep-encrusted eyes, you spy some notifications that came through overnight…
Might as well have a quick peek and maybe even fire off a few replies before getting your day started, right?
Wrong.
What was supposed to be a quick, 5-minute notification check, spirals into an hour long voyage down The Instagram Rabbit Hole!
You’ll do better tomorrow 🥲.
OUT WITH THE OLD
Sound familiar to you? Used to happen to me all the time.
But, over the years, I’ve found that there’s something so special about starting my day with God, before the responsibilities and distractions of life get in the way.
These days, I start my day with a daily Bible plan – instead of mindlessly scrolling away on my iPhone as soon as I wake up, for example.
It’s not just first thing in the morning, though. Research shows that we tap, swipe, and click on our phones 2,617 times per day!
So, how can you stop these social media spirals and be more intentional about using your phone in a more spiritually productive way?
My top tip is to replace your bad (app) habits with good ones.
I’m more intentional, now, about taking in Christian content, and I’ve found that apps have really helped me with this. I’m always trying out new faith-based apps, so here’s a list of 10 of my faves…
Top 10 Christian Apps to Grow & Inspire Your Faith
1. YouVersion
YouVersion is probably the most comprehensive Bible app! It’s great for reading the Word at any time or place without the need to carry a physical Bible around.
You can also access tons of Bible reading plans and devotionals, interact with friends and family, share prayer points, make notes, watch videos that break down the text – and so much more!

2. Enduring Word
The Enduring Word Bible Commentary App is easily one of my favourites! It’s a trusted study resource, created by David Guzik, for anyone wanting to study and understand God’s Word.
Thousands of pastors, Bible teachers, and everyday Christians also find these resources helpful.

7. Bible MemoRY
The Bible Memory App makes it easy for you to memorise, organise, and review verses by actively engaging 3 separate cognitive areas: kinesthetic (touch), visual, and auditory memory.
The free version of the app uses the King James Version (KJV), but you can purchase nearly any popular translation, along with translations of individual verses.

10. YouTube
Almost everyone uses YouTube, but it can be especially helpful in growing and inspiring your faith as it gives you access to thousands of sermons, music and Christian content!
The key is to be intentional about the kinds of videos you watch and not go down the rabbit hole of worldly content. If you’re looking for powerful sermons and virtual events, feel free to check out my home church’s YouTube channel: The Liberty Church London.
